Tom Emery’s speedy rise to the top of the sevens world has survived two major punctures to reach Team England.

He joined the England programme having been released by Northampton Saints but then had to take refuge at Coventry RFC in the Championships when the set-up was disbanded.

The scrum-half has relished the cauldron-like atmosphere of London Sevens and scored five tries in 16 matches in his first season on the World Series circuit.
