A total of 72 athletes competed in the Bahamas Youth Games 2017, where Team England comfortably topped the medal table with a total of 51 medals. 

Swimming proved to be one of the big success stories of the Games, with Team England coming out on top against strong squads from Australia. Layla Black retained her 200m breaststroke title that she won in Samoa two years ago. Leah Crisp won double gold in the 400m and 800 m freestyle and Ciara Schlosshan collected a full set of gold, silver and bronze. 

Twins Javier and Joaquin Bello won the first ever gold medal for Team England in beach volleyball at any level. 

Chloe Watson won Team England’s first ever women’s boxing Commonwealth Youth medal, winning gold in the 51kg category.  Tom Lish won the first gold medal of the Games, winning three fights in the boys' 90kg event.
