Bromley’s biggest star may well be Emma Raducanu right now, but Tamryn van Selm may hope to steal her crown in the future.

And with Commonwealth Games bronze in the women's 4x200m freestyle in Birmingham, alongside Freya Anderson, Abbie Wood and Freya Colbert, van Selm is way on her way to success.

The 18-year-old was born in nearby Orpington but represents Bromley Swimming Club while both young stars attended Newstead Wood School - and van Selm has been tipped for big things since joining the British Swimming World Class Programme in 2020.

Like Raducanu, van Selm will be hoping for victory on US soil after committing to studying at the University of North Carolina.

At the British Swimming Championships in 2022, van Selm displayed her potential by dipping below two minutes for the 200m freestyle for the first time as she reached the finals of the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.

Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
