Commonwealth Appearances

Sophie Lewis soared to a Commonwealth Games bronze on the same track she learned her trade on.

The Hertfordshire youngster began her cycling journey at the age of nine and before long she was racing around the Lee Valley VeloPark, home of the London 2012 gold rush.

Ten years on, Lewis made her Team England debut, arriving in good form after becoming a British champion in the omnium in early 2022 at a National Championships which also brought madison silver.

And teaming up with cycling royalty Laura Kenny, Josie Knight and Maddie Leech, Lewis soared to bronze in the team pursuit.

Madison is Lewis’ favoured event and she won European Junior gold in 2019.

Cycling
Cycling at the Commonwealth Games in the past has taken place across three different disciplines; Track Cycling, Road Cycling and Mountain Bike.
