Sophie Capewell has gone from strength to strength since marking her Commonwealth debut with two medals in Birmingham.
The cyclist became an Olympic champion in Paris as part of the team sprint trio alongside Katy Marchant and Emma Finucane, while they later became the first women’s squad to win Olympic and World Championship titles in the same year.
The Lichfield native dedicated her pair of Commonwealth medals to her dad, as she left Birmingham 2022 with a silver and a bronze from her time on the track.
Capwell's father, Nigel, represented ParalympicsGB in Atlanta and Sydney, but passed away less than a year before his daughter took to the track in Birmingham.
But he was there in spirit as Capewell bounced back from a disappointing start to the Games to earn 500m time trial bronze before following up the next day with silver in the keirin.
Away from the track, Capewell is a keen photographer while she also uses her platform to encourage women and girls to get on bikes.
