Max Litchfield returns to the Commonwealth stage for the first time in 12 years, back in the city where he made his international debut.
He marked it with a silver medal as part of Team England's 4x200m freestyle relay team in Glasgow.
Litchfield, the son of former professional footballer Peter, has been a mainstay of the British swimming scene for more than a decade and is the British record holder over 400m individual medley.
Litchfield won a silver medal in the event at the 2024 World Championships, while he has been to three Olympics, finishing fourth in the 400m IM on each occasion.
He has missed the last two Commonwealth Games, ruled out through injury in 2018 before withdrawing from Birmingham for personal reasons.
His younger brother Joe is also a competitive swimmer, who won two silver medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games
