Mark Swan’s favourite animal is, appropriately, a lion—and this summer in 2022 he had plenty of Team England swag to sport, claiming Commonwealth silver.

Swan first discovered the sport through the Dwarf Sports Association, lifting 70kg in his first outing – good enough for bronze.

He was, in his own words, ‘hooked’. Another bronze, this time at the Manchester World Cup in 2020 – still his favourite event – followed.

A banner year in 2021 saw Swan claim gold at the same event in March before lifting his way to junior gold and senior bronze at the Dubai World Cup, smashing his own European junior record with a 179kg best effort.

Swan is an avid outdoorsman who likes to unwind with a fishing pole in hand and a tent nearby.

His playlist depends on what he’s doing: Linkin Park or Metallica are on rotation for heavy lifting, while you’re more likely to hear Eminem and The Notorious B.I.G pumping if cardio is on the agenda.
