Hockey legend Laura Roper added to her myriad of major Games medals with a first Commonwealth gold at Birmingham 2022.

No current player has more caps for England women than Laura Unsworth, who scored in England's emphatic 12-0 win over Ghana in their Birmingham opener.

The East Grinstead defender passed the 300 appearance mark prior to last summer's Games before she added to her Commonwealth medals haul in her home city.

Having made her international debut in 2008, Unsworth graduated in the same year as she won her first of three Olympic medals at London 2012.

The nation’s most decorated Olympic hockey player was herself inspired by Jane Sixsmith who won Commonwealth silver at Kuala Lumpur 1998.

It was ecstasy for the women’s team who took home the title for the first time in history.
