Beach volleyball was the hardest sport that Jess Grimson ever tried and that struggle for mastery drove her to a second Commonwealth Games.
Gimson repeated her 2018 success with a quarter-finals apperance at the Birmingham 2022 Games, missing out on going one step further after a tough draw New Zealand.
Initially bound for a college soccer scholarship in the USA, the Leeds star spiked for the first time aged 13 at the behest of her pioneering P.E teacher.
The four-time British champion reached the quarter-finals at Gold Coast 2018 with Victoria Palmer but competed on home soil with new partner Daisy Mumby.
Grimson is a distinctive figure on court - a self-appointed ‘secret gangster’ who has her hair braided before games. She combines beach volleyball with working as a sports therapist on the south coast.
