Fred Wright was first introduced to cycling at the age of four when he used to visit his dad on Sundays while he worked at a bike hire shop in Dulwich Park, south London.

Father Phil - also an actor who has appeared in Line of Duty, Call The Midwife and Eastenders - later took his son to a Good Friday meeting at Herne Hill Velodrome to watch Bradley Wiggins.

But although the passion to pursue a career in cycling took time to ignite, Wright’s decision to choose road over the track has seen him already thrive on the World Tour.

And after riding a Grand Tour in his first full season with the professionals, starting the Vuelta a Espana, Wright ticked off another career milestone with Commonwealth Games silver.

Cycling
Cycling at the Commonwealth Games in the past has taken place across three different disciplines; Track Cycling, Road Cycling and Mountain Bike.
