Edward Mildred helped Team England to three relay medals at Birmingham 2022 and is back for more in Glasgow this summer.

In the tough but vital role of a heat swimmer, Mildred was a key part of setting his teammates up for a strong final four years ago, receiving two silver and one bronze medal for his impressive efforts in the pool.

Silver came in the form of the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m mixed freestyle relay, with bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley relay.

Mildred balanced football with swimming at the start of his career but has never looked back since going for trials at Northampton Swimming Club at the age of eight. 

At just 16, Mildred starred by winning six medals at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, going on to win two medals at the 2022 World Championships.

Three years later, Mildred went to his first Commonwealth Games as a 19-year-old at a venue just over an hour away from his local club. 

In the time since, the butterfly specialist has become a two-time British champion in the 100m butterfly as well as claiming the inaugural U23 European Championships 100m freestyle title in 2023.
