They say fourth is the worst place to finish and Desharne Bent-Ashmeil made a habit of it, finishing fourth in both of her Commonwealth Games events as well as at the European Championships.

Previously crowned England’s Diving Talent of the Year in 2019, the South Londoner was named European junior champion on 1m springboard that year and helped the British team win a silver medal.

A former gymnast, Bent-Ashmeil was born not far from the famous Crystal Palace sporting complex.

Diving
Team England made a splash in diving with their most successful ever Commonwealth Games in the sport seeing them win six golds and 16 medals in total.
