Super-heavyweight Delicious Orie sealed a debut Commonwealth gold in front of a home crowd in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old grew up in nearby Wolverhampton after arriving in the UK aged seven from Russia.

Orie only took up boxing aged 18 before embarking on a whirlwind journey that ended with him sending the NEC Arena crowd into raptures with a comeback victory over Sagar Ahlawat.

Orie arrived in Birmingham with big expectations, with his European bronze earlier that year earning comparisons to Anthony Joshua - and the Moscow-born fighter will now hope glory in Birmingham will be a springboard to emulate his compatriot's career.
