Anna Purchase finished seventh on her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham.
She began throwing aged 13 and became only the second British woman to break the 70m barrier in the hammer throw.
Despite being born in Nottingham, Purchase hopped over the Atlantic Ocean for university, first studying at the University of Nebraska, and then the University of California.
After a monster 73.02m personal best in 2023, she reached the World Athletics Championship final in Budapest, eventually claiming 11th place.
Purchase won her third successive UK Athletics Championships in 2026, edging out Charlotte Payne in a super competition where both threw over 70m.
