A passionate supporter of Liverpool football club, English swimmer Adam Barrett will be hoping for a sporting summer that matches the success of his beloved Reds’ recent season.

Barrett will be looking to add to his Commonwealth Games medal collection in Birmingham this summer after charging onto the major championship scene back in Glasgow in 2014.

The Reading athlete, who started out at Tilehurst Swimming Club, was not only part of England’s gold medal winning 4x100m medley team, but also picked up bronze in both the 4x100m freestyle and 100m butterfly events.

That was during the most prolific window of his career so far, also winning gold at the 2014 European Championships in Berlin.

The Berkshire flyer also set what was, at the time, the sixth fastest butterfly time in history in 2016 at the FINA short course World Championships.

Tom Dean aka “The SubmaDean” followed up his double Olympic triumph at Tokyo 2020 by making history in Birmingham, becoming the first Home Nations athlete to win seven medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
