Abi Smith started her sporting life as a triathlete, falling way behind on the swim leg only to surge to the front of the pack through her bike skills.

It didn’t take her long to get the message and she started competing on the National Youth Road Series in 2018, trying both track and road and preferring the latter.

Smith describes herself as a ‘diesel engine’, an all-rounder whose strength lies in her sustainable power.
The Yorkshire star finished 37th in her maiden Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
