How Commonwealth Games England has worked with Shakespeare Martineau in 2015

Who did Team England partner with?

Shakespeare Martineau

Shakespeare Martineau is a prominent and rapidly growing UK law firm offering a range of legal services to individuals and businesses across a variety of sectors. The UK top 50 firm was formed in June 2015 through the merger of Shakespeares and SGH Martineau, creating a legal firm with more than 135 partners and 870 people across eight UK offices.

Why and how the partnership came about

In October 2015, Commonwealth Games England added to its portfolio of commercial partners and secured its first ever Official Legal Partner after agreeing a deal with leading law firm Shakespeare Martineau for the next three years.

Shakespeare Martineau linked up with Team England to engage their people, recognise how teamwork can lead to exceptional results for both for its staff and clients and reflect how fostering talent, spirit and enterprise are vital for success in both sport and business.

How the partnership has worked out so far

As a newly merged firm, Shakespeare Martineau wanted to unite its staff and promote talent development at all levels. It has so far worked with Team England to achieve this by doing the following:

•      Team England created an athlete programme for the firm, with appearances from young athletes and Glasgow medalists to inspire and motivate staff to set goals and achieve more.

•      Team England introduced performance director Greg Whyte to talk about setting audacious goals – and then achieving them!

•      Strong industry coverage following announcement generated
