Team England is excited to share that we’re joining forces with GLL, the UK’s largest charitable leisure social enterprise, as we build towards the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

GLL, who operate Better leisure centres across the country, already help millions of people get active every year. Now, they’ll be playing a key role in bringing the spirit of Team England into local communities and helping more people feel part of the journey to this summer’s Games.

One of the biggest moments in the partnership will be the Team England National Sports Weekend, taking place on 18th- 19th July 2026 at GLL venues nationwide. Across the weekend, doors will open to a huge range of Commonwealth sports, with free or low‑cost sessions, coaching and taster activities for people of all ages and abilities.

Around 300,000 people are expected to get involved, from families trying something new, to young people discovering a sport they love, to fans who simply want to feel closer to Team England. There will even be chances to meet Team England legends across selected venues.

Speaking about the partnership, Mark Osikoya, CEO of Commonwealth Games England, said:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with GLL who are an organisation that share our belief in the power of sport to bring people together. With their incredible reach into communities across England, this partnership will help more people feel connected to Team England and inspired by the journey to Glasgow 2026.”

Peter Bundey, CEO of GLL, added:

“GLL is proud to support Team England and to help open up Commonwealth sports to people of all ages and abilities. The National Sports Weekend will be a fantastic celebration of movement, community and opportunity. We can’t wait to welcome thousands of people into our centres this summer.”

GLL has a long history of supporting both elite and grassroots sport — from backing the London 2012 Games bid to running Olympic venues in legacy mode. Their GLL Sport Foundation, launched in 2008, has provided more than 35,000 awards and nearly £20 million of support to talented young athletes across the UK.

With Glasgow 2026 fast approaching, this partnership will help bring the excitement of the Games to communities across England, and give fans even more ways to get involved, get active and get Ready to Win.
