A combination of established internationals and exciting new talent will represent Team England on the netball court at Glasgow 2026, with a squad of 12 athletes officially confirmed for this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Head coach Anna Stembridge has named a squad blending world-class experience and leadership with Francesca Williams set to captain the side.

Williams returns to the Commonwealth stage as one of the side’s key leaders. She is one of six players from the historic silver medal-winning team at the 2023 Netball World Cup selected for Glasgow, with Liv Tchine also returning to take on the vice captaincy role. The latter has continued to establish herself as one of England’s most dangerous attacking threats.

Tchine heads into her second major international tournament after impressing for London Pulse and on the international stage since making her debut in 2022. In attack, she is joined by Eleanor Cardwell, who earns selection for her second Commonwealth Games after first representing Team England in Birmingham.

AO Manchester Thunder’s Lois Pearson will make her major tournament debut after a remarkable rise through the domestic game. The Bury-born attacker made her England debut in 2024 following a standout Netball Super League campaign, where she was named Players’ Player of the Season, and has continued to impress for both club and country.

Completing Team England’s shooting options is Sasha Glasgow, who earns selection for her first Commonwealth Games. Born and raised in Australia to English parents, Glasgow made her England debut in 2023.

In midcourt, Nat Metcalf returns for her third Commonwealth Games appearance. The wing attack was a key member of England’s gold medal-winning team at Gold Coast 2018, Metcalf brings a wealth of experience and leadership, having also captained Team England at Birmingham 2022. Her return to international competition this season has been particularly special after giving birth to her daughter, Miller, last year.

She is joined by AO Manchester Thunder teammate Amy Carter, who was a travelling reserve for the 2023 Netball World Cup and captained the Manchester side to a historic fifth NSL title last weekend. Carter will also serve as vice-captain.

Imo Allison also earns selection for her second Commonwealth Games, having cemented herself as one of the game’s standout players across centre and wing defences. Jess Shaw completes the midcourt, having impressed in recent domestic seasons with impressive all-action displays.

In defence, Williams is joined by Halimat Adio, Funmi Fadoju and Jayda Pechová.

Adio heads to her first Commonwealth Games following a series of strong performances for London Pulse, where she has become a key figure in defence.

Alongside her, Funmi Fadoju returns for her second major international tournament after continuing her rise as one of the most accomplished defenders in world netball.

Jayda Pechová is the youngest player selected in the squad at just 21 and earns her place after a standout season with Nottingham Forest.

Head coach Anna Stembridge said: “It is a huge honour to be able to announce the athletes who will represent Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Every player who puts on the red dress understands the responsibility that comes with that opportunity, and the 12 athletes named today have all earned their place through their performances, commitment, and the standards they have shown.”

“The competitiveness within English netball is incredibly strong, and this squad reflects the quality and depth we have across the programme. We have a balance of players who bring valuable experience from previous major tournaments, alongside athletes who will be experiencing their first Commonwealth Games and are ready to embrace that opportunity.

“Each athlete brings different qualities to this group, and the strength of this team will come from how we combine those qualities and perform together. We’re excited to continue our preparation and represent Team England on one of the biggest stages for our sport.”

Team England Chef de Mission Jonathon Riall added, “Netball is always one of the biggest draws of the Commonwealth Games and it is brilliant to be able to announce the 12 players that will head to Glasgow 2026.”

"Netball has given us some brilliant memories through the years, most notably that amazing gold medal in 2018, and I can't wait to watch what our team does at Glasgow 2026."
