England’s lawn bowls players won two gold medals at the eight nations test tournament, the test event for the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games,
 
Mark Bantock, Graham Shadwell and Robert Newman beat New Zealand 7-5, 9-2 to win the men's triples title at the Delhi test event, while Jamie-Lea Winch, Sandy Hazell and Sian Gordon won the women's triples thanks to a 4-3 win in the tie-break against Australia.
 
There was further success when Mervyn King and Sam Tolchard teamed up to win a bronze medal in the men's pairs having beaten South Africa.
 
The women's pair of Natalie Melmore and Ellen Falkner narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth when they lost in a tie-break against Australia.
 
England's singles representatives - Tolchard and Amy Monkhouse - were unable to make the final stages in their events despite several close games.
 
England finished fifth in the lawn bowls medal table at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games with a silver and a bronze medal. Mark Bantock and Ian Bond won silver in the men’s pairs with Sue Harriott, Jean Baker and Amy Monkhouse winning the women’s triples bronze.
 
Australia topped the table in Melbourne with three golds, one silver and a bronze.
 
The 2010 Commonwealth Games take place in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010.
