Ethan Nairne impressed on the way to his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow.

The judoka claimed his first Grand Prix title towards the early stages of the 2026 campaign, finishing victorious in the Grand Prix Upper Austria in Linz.

Training out of Bradley Stoke Judo Club, a run to the final of the Sofia European Open, in his first competition of the year, signalled his intent to compete.

At the European Senior Championships 2026 Individual, Nairne narrowly fell to defeat in the repechage final in the under-73 kilogram category - just missing out on a medal.

The former British champion also claimed a bronze medal in 2025 at the Tallinn European Open.

Nairne went all the way at Glasgow 2026 as well, taking gold.

The Games were also a family affair for Nairne, Ethan the younger brother to fellow Team England judoka Lele.
