Commonwealth Games England leads and manages the participation of Team England at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games, working closely with each sport’s National Governing Body, our funding partner Sport England, and the Games’ Organising Committees.

England is one of only six countries to have taken part in every edition of the Commonwealth Games since their inception in 1930.

The Commonwealth Games are about more than sport. They bring together athletes and communities from across the Commonwealth to celebrate sporting achievement, culture and inclusion, while creating opportunities to inspire the next generation.

In 2026, Glasgow welcomed more than 3,000 athletes from 71 diverse teams to compete across an integrated programme of 10 sports and para sports. Team England was part of an inspiring celebration of sport, culture and community, with events taking place at world-class venues across the city.

Our work extends beyond each Games. United by a love of sport, Commonwealth Games England works to create excellent performance environments for Team England athletes, support the development of the team and its sports, raise the profile and value of the Commonwealth Games, and help shape their future for generations to come.

Looking ahead, Team England will compete at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Malta from 29th October to 4th November 2027, bringing together athletes aged 14–18 from across the Commonwealth. In 2030, the Commonwealth Games will return to India, with Amdavad set to host more than 10,000 athletes across 16 days of sport.
